Thursday 27th June 2019 we were proud to present our very first Annual Windrush Celebration eventtogether with the Congolese Development Project in the Grand Theatre Arts wing. So many great artists performed including Victor Brox Blues, DJ Amas, Ify Iwobi, Crossing Borders, Congolese Drummers and Aissatou our Senegalese dancer. Our favourite and honoured Windrush friends came along too. They spoke movingly about their experiences and we were proud to have their presence amongst us.
The Best News Ever was announced – we have secured the Grand Theatre Arts Wing as our multicultural Hub. Many thanks go to Race Council Cymru and the Culture Department of the local authority. Yummy food was eagerly eaten and provided by Jamaican Jills restaurant and we rounded off the evening with a visit from TOIC 50 – the 50th anniversary song to celebrate Swansea’s 50 years of city status. An altogether amazing evening.
