CC Organised it’s final Dissemination event to celebrate the end of the Building Livelihoods and Strengthening Communities Project. Over the past 3 years, the African Community Centre delivered a 3 year, £1.1m Big Lottery funded, Oxfam Cymru project that supported over a hundred people from Black and ethnic minority communities most of whom were asylum seekers and refugees.
The event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Swansea Cllr John Newbury, followed by presentations on achievements so far on the project delivered by Leon Quinn – Monitoring and Evaluation Officer from Oxfam Cymru, Isioma Ikediashi – Lead worker in Swansea ACC, and Matt Hemsley – Campaigns and Advocacy Manager from Oxfam. We also had a speech from Cllr Erika Kirchner – Councillor for Castle Ward (Diversity Champion) and of course the heart felt stories of the peer mentors and beneficiaries on the project.
The event was widely attended by politicians, community actors, advocates, and service users.
